Mastodon Code - William Lessard - Poetry - Sensitive Skin Magazine
tonight i'm a 19 y.o. female because i have a thing for avo toast

because code is the new ontology

because the online quiz i took wants to rescue me

wants to unhook the burst shopping bag from my fingers

wants to gift me a fresh, recycled one

one that i won't have to wait 3,000 years to redeem

because code knows more than how many candles go on our cake

because the online quiz follows the curve of our fingers

knows grasping the new means hope, means fear

means original timeline "i" is done with being done

because code is the sonnet of our age

because tonight digital hieroglyphs breathe a new pentameter

fall in love with a different dark lady

					every time i hit <return>
