Sensitive Skin Number 1 – or is it #5?
It took us almost a year to figure out that Peau Sensible in English meant Sensitive Skin. A lot of water passed under the bridge between Peau Sensible 4 and this first issue to go by the English title, the editorial staff was different – Rob Hardin and Christian X. Hunter joined up – but we were still somewhat confused, so we numbered it “5,” like it was the fifth issue of Peau Sensible, when it’s really the first issue of Sensitive Skin. Or something like that.
Notables to join us with this issue include Warhol film star (Tarzan and Jane Regained…Sort Of, Lonesome Cowboys) and poet Taylor Mead (Taylor Mead, A Simple Country Girl), Black Mountain poet and Naropa instructor Fielding Dawson, Queens Poet Laureate Hal Sirowitz (Mother Said), novelist and radio host (Wreck This Mess) bart plantenga (Yodel-Ay-Ee-Oooo: The Secret History of Yodeling Around the World), Nuyorican poet Edwin Torres and future editor Tim Beckett, a translation of the work of L.V. Pena by mystery writer Kenneth Wishnia (23 Shades of Black), Emily XYZ( (The Emily XYZ Songbook), Arthur Nersesian (The Fuck-Up), a photograph by Alain Duplantier and artwork from Shalom Neuman, as well as the usual gang.
