So I was walking in The Mission with my friend, photographer Brad Evans, when he said, “There’s the lady with the smile.” He ran across Valencia Street, and I followed. And there she was, a woman carrying a huge black and white print of a smile. The smile turned out to be hers, and it also turned out that she walks the streets of San Francisco carrying the smile. Brad tried to get her to stop smiling so he could get a photo of her not smiling along with her smile, but it wasn’t happening. And my photos weren’t happening until I noticed she had folded her hands under the smile.
It turns out this is a project of hers called Connect. You can see a little more of it here.
